Over the years under the guidance of her father Late Manick Lal Mazumder she brushed herself to become a fine mime performer. Later in 1998 she joined “Indian Mime Theatre” under Padmashree Niranjan Goswami, where she always stood aside from others in terms of performance and understanding of Mime. From 1998 to till date she attended all the “National and International Mime Festivals”, Seminars and Workshops organized by “Indian Mime Theatre”. Along with this she also started to explore other Theatre Festivals, competitions and workshops organized by Govt. India Cultural Dept. and other National and International groups.

In the year 2006 her father passed away and Soma was so shocked that she completely made her invisible from the field of mime and for a long period of nearly 10 years. In 2016, with the help of some well-wishers and blessings of elders she again thought of keeping her father’s name alive in the field of Mime, Smt. Soma Das formed a group named “SOMA MIME THEATRE”. And since the formation of the group there was no looking back. Soma Mime Theatre under the guidance of SOMA has earned respect in promoting Mime in a new and more understandable way for the non-Mime fraternity and as a reward; She received the prestigious “Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar” by “Sangeet Natak Akademy”, Ministry of Culture, and Govt. This program created history as this is the 1st time some group has done this exclusively for female Mime Artists.
